Phish inducts Genesis to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2010

I’ve been a fan of Phish for 20 years and Genesis for nearly as long, so I was delighted to learn that Phish inducted Genesis into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this passed week. This is the edited version of the induction ceremony that was held on Monday. And although it doesn’t do justice to Trey Anastasio’s induction speech, it gives you a nice taste of the night and is nicely sized for youtube. If you’re interested in seeing more of Genesis’s induction ceremony check out the following links: www.youtube.com This is Phish’s performance of Watcher of the Skies. It actually opened up the entire ceremony. Great choice for an opening track. The eerie mellotron chords that begin this song opened Genesis concerts between 1972-74. I can only imagine what the audience was thinking when this song began. www.youtube.com This is the video montage that briefly sums up the history of Genesis for the audience before Trey made his speech. www.youtube.com This is Trey’s full speech, and I think it was the highlight of the evening. Who knew that Trey was such a big fan. www.youtube.com This is Genesis’s acceptance speech. www.youtube.com Phish’s performance of No Reply At All.
